Dr. Stephen Moore (UCC)
Dr. Stephen Moore is a senior lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Ghana. Renowned for his expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Natural Language Processing (NLP), Dr. Moore focuses on tackling challenges associated with low-resource languages in Africa.
As a co-founder of Ghana NLP, he has spearheaded efforts to develop computational tools for African languages like Akan, Dagbani, Ewe, and Ga. Since 2020, his team has introduced groundbreaking technologies, including ABENA: A BERT Now in Akan, an AI language model tailored to Akan, and Khaya, a translation app that facilitates seamless communication across multiple African languages.
Dr. Moore’s work has earned him academic and industry recognition. In 2023, he became the first Ghanaian to receive a prestigious $30,000 Google Research Grant, honoring his contributions to advancing African NLP and mentoring young researchers through Ghana NLP.

MEET APSU NATIONAL SECRETARY

Eric Atta-Sono
Eric Atta-Sono serves as the National Secretary of the Augusco Past Students Union (APSU). Based at the APSU Secretariat at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra, Ghana, he plays a critical role in coordinating alumni activities and maintaining strong ties between members and St. Augustine’s College.
Under his leadership, APSU has implemented key projects, including the refurbishment of the school’s Geography Block, which involved electrical rewiring, structural repairs, and modernization efforts to enhance the learning environment. Eric also oversees mentorship programs, connecting alumni with current students to foster entrepreneurship and personal development.
His vision emphasizes collective contributions from alumni, ensuring resources are mobilized effectively to sustain the legacy and infrastructure of St. Augustine’s College.
MEET APSU USA PRESIDENT

Augustine Abotsi
Augustine Abotsi, an alumnus of the 1993 year group of St. Augustine’s College, is the President of the APSU USA Chapter, representing alumni in the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
During his tenure, Augustine has established the APSU USA $1 Million Endowment Fund, aimed at supporting the long-term development of St. Augustine’s College. He has also formalized APSU USA as a tax-exempt organization, enhancing fundraising capabilities.
His administration introduced the APSU North Star Series, monthly virtual sessions focused on professional and personal growth for members. Augustine’s commitment to mentorship and educational initiatives has fostered a culture of guidance and support, ensuring an enduring connection between alumni and their alma mater.
